Are you and your friends ready for a new challenge? Then this event is for you. The Renegade Sprint-Adventure Race includes Paddling, Mountain Biking, Trail Running and Skill Challenges. Just imagine you and your friends going through the paddle course with one 2-person kayak, 30 feet of rope, 1 inner tube and 1 paddle. It is up to you to figure out the best way to get through the 1/2 mile paddle. Other tests include an obstacle course and fun physical and mental challenges.

The field will be divided up from the start with 1/3 starting the paddle, 1/3 starting the bike and the last 1/3 starting the run. All teams & solo racers will be responsible for completing each segment (Challenges are adjusted slightly for solo racers). At the completion of each segment and each skill challenge the teams/individuals will get checkpoint stamps. At the conclusion of the race stamps will be verified and tallied with finish times to determine awards. The course will be sparsely marked and hand-held GPS's will be allowed. Let the Adventure begin!

(NEW) LIFE JACKETS/PFD's - If you haven't secured a life jacket for Saturday's race, you can rent one from The Barge Rentals at Bonelli Park, call Joe at 909.599.6703. Call to reserve a jacket and pick it up on Friday or on race morning. Half-day rentals are $10, be sure to mention "Renegade Racing", your jacket size (xs-s, s-m, m-l) and your name and phone number. The Barge Rentals/Bike Shop is on the South Shore of Bonelli Park. If you need a jacket you MUST RSVP.

Welcome to the Renegade Sprint Adventure Race, we are excited about hosting this event.We have listed several items that you will need to know prior to your arrival on race day.Be sure to pay particular attention to the mandatory items/equipment list.You will be asked to show these items at the event.Failure to produce ANY of these items upon demand to race staff or volunteer support crew will result in a disqualification or time penalty.

Getting to the Event

• Bonelli Park, (120 Via Verde Park Road, San Dimas CA 91773) is easy to get to from CA-57. Exit Via Verde and turn left.Enter the park on Via Verde.ALL VEHICLES will have to pay an $8 park fee, carpool when possible.After entering the park make your first left and follow the signs to registration.
• Once at registration Adventure Racers who need to purchase a 1-day USARA license will need to go to the USARA table first
• Proceed to registration and pick up your event packet including bibs, event maps and instructions, t-shirts and goodie bags
• Stake your Claim - go to the transition area and set up your area.Be mindful to your fellow participants, teams will not be restricted to any particular area but please allow only enough room for your team and gear.

Event Rules

1. All participants are expected to be examples of good sportsmanship.Racers must treat fellow racers and staff with courtesy and respect.
2. Teams must assist fellow teams in need of medical attention.
3. Teams must always remain within 10 yards of teammates and within visual contact (unless otherwise specified or in the transition area)
4. Team race packets must be carried on the bike and run
5. Race bibs must be worn on the front and outside of clothing at all times.Safety pins will be provided and triathlon style race belts will be allowed
6. Teams must collect checkpoint or special test punches on their passport.Failure to collect all punches will require teams to reenter the course to collect missing punches
7. All punches must be collected in order.If a team misses a checkpoint or special test they will be allowed to go back but cannot complete the checkpoint or special test until the missed element is completed
8. Race officials reserve the right to alter time cut-offs or the course itself to accommodate changing conditions and to ensure participant safety
9. Bike and Run mandatory gear must be carried at all times
10. While on the Paddle element of the race all participants must wear their personal floatation (PFD) devices at all times
11. Compasses are mandatory and hand held GPS’s are optional
12. Race officials will provide boats, paddles and tubes.NO PERSONAL canoes or boats will be allowed
13. Bicycle helmets are required at all times during the bicycle segment
14. Racers must follow the Rules of Travel as outlined in the Course Instructions (given to teams on race morning).Where no specific path is designated, teams select their path between check points.When instructions designate a specific route, teams must follow that path
15. Race officials will provide water in the transition area.All teams must carry their own food and water needed on the course
16. Athletes may not receive outside assistance except from Race Officials, Volunteer Crew or other registered teams
17. NO LITTERING!
18. Use of cell phone is for emergencies only.No other use is allowed
19. Infraction of rules will result in either a disqualification or time penalty
20. The Race reserves the right to remove a team from the course for health, safety or other reasons, at the discretion of race officials and medical personnel.
21. Any protest must be filed in writing within one hour of the team’s finish and will be reviewed by the race committee.

EQUIPMENT/GEAR

Renegade Racing will provide all Teams with a paddle boat, one paddle, rope and one inner tube for the Paddling/Kayaking portion of the event.All Individuals will receive a boat and one paddle. No personal items will be allowed as substitutes in this segment. Mandatory Gear Lists

Personal Gear List

• Personal flotation device “PFD” (only for the paddle section)
• Hydration System (only for bike and run sections)
• Shoes (only required for bike and run sections, optional for paddle section)
• Mountain bike and helmet (only for the bike section)

Team Gear List

• Compass
• Bike repair items (spare tubes, pump, tools and patch kit)
• Basic First Aid Kit (band aids, gauze, medical tape, sting and bite treatments, ace bandage and cold pack)
• One FULLY CHARGED cellular phone

Optional Competitor Items

• Personal hand held GPS devices
• Wetsuit
• Triathlon style race number belts
• Bungee cords/tow rope
• Carabiners

All other items are up to the Race Director’s discretion.No items will be allowed that help propel participants forward during any segment of the event.Some of those items include but aren’t limited to extra paddles, fins or motorized propulsion devises either designed for water or land use.

Additional Info

Select REI stores and other sporting good stores rent and sell PFDs (personal flotation devises), check out your nearest retailer if you still need one! Prices to purchase are $35 to $135. Rental prices range from $.50 ~ $10.
